Sinister Wisdom 136 pays tributes to past and present lesbian and feminist icons. Opening with a photo essay by L. A. Hyder featuring photographs of Audre Lorde, the issue continues with a tribute to the feminist journal IKON. IKON editor Susan Sherman continues a robust history of the journal alongside reflections by Jan Clausen, Gale P. Jackson, Demetria Martinez, and Margaret Randall.

Sinister Wisdom 136 also features incisive essays by Shariananda Adamz on Aretha Franklin and Vagia Kalfa on lesbian literature in Greece as well as a selection of writing about lesbian pulp novels.
